Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 28, 2026

Last updated: August 28, 2026

In short: what you type into the builder stays in your browser. We only receive your email if you sign up for tips, and your document only if you click "Create account & save". For account holders the Invoice My Clients Privacy Policy also applies.

1. Introduction

Invoice My Clients LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates free-invoice-generator.co (the "Site"), a free tool for building invoices, estimates, quotes and receipts in your browser. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Site collects, what it does not collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

The Site is operated by the same company, and under the same data practices, as Invoice My Clients (invoicemyclients.com and app.invoicemyclients.com). If you create an account, the Invoice My Clients Privacy Policy applies to your account and to everything you store in it.

2. What stays in your browser

The document you build on the Site (your business details, your client's details, line items, amounts, notes and any logo you upload) is processed entirely in your browser. It is not sent to us or to anyone else while you build it or when you download the PDF; the PDF is generated on your device.

To save you retyping, the Site remembers your own business details, logo, currency, payment information and the last document number you used in your browser's local storage on your device. Client details, line items and amounts are never stored. You can delete the remembered details at any time with the "Clear saved details" link above the builder, or by clearing site data in your browser.

3. Information we collect

The Site collects personal information in exactly two situations, both started by you:

  • Email opt-in: if you type your email address into the "Invoicing tips" form and submit it, we store that address together with the consent sentence shown next to the form, the date and time, the page URL, the referring page and any campaign tags in the URL. Nothing from the document you are building is included.
  • Create account and save: if you click "Create account & save", the document you built (including any logo) is sent to the Invoice My Clients app and held for up to 24 hours under an unguessable token so it can be imported into your new account. If you do not complete signup, the record expires and is deleted. The record carries which kind of document it is: estimates and quotes are imported as draft invoices with their label and number kept, and receipts as paid invoices with the payment recorded.

We also collect technical information automatically: device and browser type, IP address, pages visited, time on page, and interactions with the builder (for example that a PDF was downloaded, how many line items it had and which currency it used). We do not read the content of the document for analytics.

4. How we use your information

  • Provide the Site: generate your PDF, remember your business details on your device, and carry your document into a new account when you ask us to.
  • Communication: send the invoicing tips and product news you opted in to. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • Improvement: understand which features are used and where the Site is slow or broken, using aggregate analytics.
  • Owner notifications: an automated text message may tell the Site owner that a PDF was downloaded or an account was started. These messages contain counts and a currency code only, never your name, email, document content or IP address.
  • Legal: comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we process your data on the basis of:

  • Consent: for the email opt-in and, where required, for analytics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Contract performance: to carry your document into an account you asked us to create.
  • Legitimate interest: to secure the Site, prevent abuse and measure how it performs.

6. Cookies and analytics

The Site uses Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and usage. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are set to "denied" by default (Google Consent Mode v2) until you choose otherwise; elsewhere they are enabled by default. A theme preference (light or dark) is stored in your browser.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking analytics does not affect the builder.

7. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with providers who process it on our behalf under contract:

  • Amazon Web Services: hosts the Site and the Invoice My Clients app, including the stored opt-in addresses and pending documents.
  • Google: analytics.
  • Twilio: delivers the owner notification text messages described above (which contain no personal information).
  • Email delivery providers: send the emails you opted in to.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or asset sale.

8. International transfers

We are based in the United States and our providers process data there. Where data is transferred from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and adequacy decisions.

9. Data retention

  • Pending documents sent for "Create account & save" are deleted when imported into your account, or automatically after 24 hours if you do not finish signing up.
  • Opt-in email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and then for as long as we need to honour that request.
  • Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics settings (currently 14 months).
  • Details remembered in your browser stay on your device until you clear them.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents have the right to know what is collected, to delete it, to opt out of any sale (we do not sell it), and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

  • Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message, or by contacting us.
  • Clear the details remembered in your browser with the "Clear saved details" link above the builder.
  • For any other request, contact us using the details below and we will respond within the time required by law.

11. Security

Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Stored opt-in addresses and pending documents are held in access-controlled cloud infrastructure, and the pending documents can only be written by the Site, never listed or read from it. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately.

12. Children's privacy

The Site is not intended for individuals under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Third-party links

The Site links to invoicemyclients.com and to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to read their policies.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version, and material changes will be posted on this page.
