How to make a GST invoice in under a minute
Fill in the form, watch the live preview, and download or save. Here is the full walkthrough.
- 01Add your legal name, address and GSTIN (your 15-character GST identification number), then the recipient’s name, address, state and GSTIN.
- 02Add each supply as a line item. Put the HSN code (goods) or SAC code (services) in the description, then the quantity, unit and taxable value per unit.
- 03GST is pre-set to 18%. Change it to 5%, 12% or 28% where the schedule says so, and untick taxable on exempt or nil-rated lines.
- 04Set the invoice number (a consecutive series of up to 16 characters), the invoice date, upload your logo and confirm the currency is INR.
- 05In the notes, state the place of supply, whether the tax is CGST + SGST (same state) or IGST (different state), and whether reverse charge applies, then click Download free PDF.
The notes start with "GST charged as applicable (CGST + SGST for intra-state supply, IGST for inter-state supply). Payment due within 30 days." For an intra-state supply at 18%, add "CGST 9% + SGST 9%" so the split is explicit. The PDF is a document you give your customer; nothing is filed with or sent to any tax authority, and registering for the tax, charging the right rate and reporting it remain your responsibility.
What must a GST invoice include?
Rule 46 of the CGST Rules lists the particulars a tax invoice must carry. A registered recipient needs all of them to claim input tax credit, and the same details feed your GSTR-1. Include the following.
- Your name, address and GSTIN
- A consecutive invoice number, unique for the financial year, of up to 16 characters
- The date of issue
- The recipient’s name, address and GSTIN (or, if unregistered, their name, address and state for supplies of 50,000 INR or more)
- The HSN code for goods or SAC code for services on each line
- A description of each good or service, with quantity, unit and total value
- The taxable value after any discount
- The GST rate and amount, split as CGST + SGST/UTGST for intra-state supply or IGST for inter-state supply
- The place of supply with the state name, and the delivery address if different
- Whether tax is payable on reverse charge, and your signature or digital signature
Taxes, VAT, GST, and multiple currencies
You can mark each line item taxable or not and set the rate, so a single invoice can mix taxed and untaxed items. This per-item control is something many simple tools cannot do, where one document is limited to one tax rate.
Documents render in 12 currencies with locale-correct formatting: USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, JPY, INR, PKR, MXN, NZD, ZAR, and SGD. That covers VAT in the EU and UK, GST in India, Australia and Canada, and US sales tax. Need detailed tax handling across your whole workflow? See the tax feature.

Frequently asked questions
What are the GST invoice requirements in India?
A tax invoice must show the supplier’s name, address and GSTIN; a consecutive invoice number unique to the financial year; the date; the recipient’s name, address and GSTIN (for an unregistered recipient, their address and state on supplies of 50,000 INR or more); the HSN or SAC code, description, quantity and value of each item; the taxable value; the rate and amount of CGST, SGST/UTGST or IGST; the place of supply; whether reverse charge applies; and a signature. Larger businesses (aggregate turnover above the current e-invoicing threshold, 5 crore INR since August 2023) must also register each B2B invoice on the Invoice Registration Portal to get an IRN and QR code; this free tool does not generate an IRN.
CGST and SGST or IGST: which do I charge?
It depends on the place of supply. If you and the recipient are in the same state, the supply is intra-state and GST is split equally into CGST and SGST (or UTGST in a union territory): at 18% that is CGST 9% + SGST 9%. If the recipient is in a different state, or the supply is an import or export, charge IGST at the full rate instead. This tool shows one GST line at the rate you set; write the split in the notes so the invoice states it explicitly.
What are the GST rates?
The main slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, with 0% (nil-rated) and exempt categories, and a few special rates such as 0.25% and 3% for rough diamonds and precious metals. Most services and many goods fall at 18%, which is why this tool starts at 18%. Check the rate schedule for your HSN or SAC code, since the slabs are revised from time to time by the GST Council.
Do I need to register for GST?
Registration is compulsory once aggregate turnover exceeds 40 lakh INR for goods (20 lakh INR in the special category states) or 20 lakh INR for services (10 lakh INR in the special category states), and regardless of turnover for inter-state suppliers of goods, e-commerce sellers and those liable under reverse charge. Unregistered suppliers must not charge GST or issue a tax invoice: leave the GSTIN blank, untick taxable on every line, and the document becomes a bill of supply.
Is my client data safe?
Yes. Everything you type stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored on our servers unless you create an account and save the document yourself. See our privacy policy for details.
What currencies are supported?
USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, JPY, INR, PKR, MXN, NZD, ZAR, and SGD, each formatted correctly for its locale.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in your browser. There is nothing to download or install.
What happens when I create an account?
Your invoice is carried straight into your new Invoice My Clients account. Your invoice arrives ready, PDF generated, so you can send it and get paid online. From there you can edit it, send it, track payment, and get paid online.
Does it remember my business details?
Yes. Your own business details, logo, currency, and payment information are saved on your device (in your browser, never on our servers) so you do not re-enter them next time, and your invoice number auto-increments from the last one you used. Client details, line items, and amounts are never saved. You can clear everything any time with the "Clear saved details" link above the form.
Is there a Spanish version?
Yes. The same invoice generator is available in Spanish, with the document, the labels and the PDF in Spanish, at the "Español" link in the header.
